Project Profile: Custody Transfer Metering System for Crude Export

Key Project Details

  • Project Name: Custody Transfer Metering System for Crude Export

  • Core Objective: To establish an internal, accurate crude export monitoring capability for a client who previously lacked any measurement infrastructure.

  • Scope of Work: Turnkey system engineering, supply and installation of 5 ultrasonic flow streams, sampling room integration, control panel hookups, and final commissioning.

  • Technology Deployed: 5 High-accuracy Ultrasonic Flowmeters, variable-area sampling flowmeters, and unified custody-grade control interfaces.

  • Operational Impact:

    • Provided a complete, independent fiscal validation framework for maritime crude shipping.

    • Transformed decision-making capabilities via real-time export tracking.

The project entailed the installation of five complete streams of ultrasonic flow meters and a variable-area flowmeter for the sampling room, all integrated into a unified, reliable system. This upgrade introduced custody-grade metering standards, transforming the client’s operations by providing real-time, verified data on exported fluids, significantly enhancing operational decision-making and financial accountability.

Products & Services Used:

  • Metering Arrays: 5 custody-transfer ultrasonic flowmeter streams and custom variable-area calibration sampling instruments.

  • Control Infrastructure: Centralized data-reconciliation terminals, secure flow computers, and field-to-office communication links.

Post-Project Impact: The successful completion of this long-term infrastructure project gave the terminal an undisputed baseline for verifying high-volume crude oil exports, preventing custody shortfalls and maximizing commercial transaction transparency.
