Job Brief:
We are seeking an experienced Cost Controller to oversee project budgets and expenditures for our oil and gas operations. In this role, you will be crucial in ensuring our projects remain financially sound, enabling informed decision-making and preventing unforeseen costs.
The working hours for this position are from 08:30 to 16:30, Sunday through Thursday. The role is based in Tripoli, Libya, and you will report directly to the General Manager.
Responsibilities:
1. Monitor and control project budgets, commitments, expenditures, and forecasts for ongoing oil and gas service projects.
2. Prepare and update cost control reports, cash flow forecasts, and cost trend analysis.
3. Review and verify invoices, purchase orders, and timesheets to ensure compliance with the approved budget and contractual terms.
4. Work closely with project teams to evaluate changes in scope and assess their cost impact.
5. Analyze cost performance and variances against the approved budget, and provide
recommendations to mitigate risks.
6. Support in the preparation of cost estimates for new proposals, tenders, and change orders.
7. Assist in establishing and maintaining a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and cost coding system aligned with company standards.
8. Coordinate with finance for monthly accruals, project closing, and reconciliations.
9. Ensure compliance with internal controls and company policies regarding project expenses and
reporting.
10. Provide regular reports and presentations to project managers and senior management
regarding cost status and forecasts.
Qualifications & Requirements:
1. At least 5-7 years in cost control, ideally within the oil and gas industry.
2. A good grasp of how oil and gas projects operate.
3. A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
4. Excellent with numbers and very detail-oriented
5. Proficient with cost control software (like SAP, Oracle, or Primavera) and advanced Excel.
6. Able to clearly explain financial information.
7. Comfortable working on your own and with a team.
8. Certification from AACE International (CCP) or PMP would be a plus
